Everytime I see an episode pop up I get nervous. LOL! Richard you are so real and honest. And you definitely know how to keep a person interested.

Richard, I listen to the podcast semi-regularly and I am valuing your insights.

You say that character and story are two functions of the same thing, my question is, do you have a name for that thing? My second question is: what is the ultimate purpose (if there is one) of stories? A third but familial question is: There's no question that story is a human universal, my question is not so much why that is but rather what are people seeking when they tell stories?

Sorry if the questions are too philosophical but if you have answers I look forward to hearing it.

Thanks!

Richard, Excellent episode.

Many congratulations for digging in the dirt and pouring the concrete for American Graffiti. Love the statement from William Goldman that "nobody knows nothing".

I have a exceptionally talented best friend who has a huge job as an Associate Vice President in the music industry and just celebrated 25 years with one of the biggest companies in the World. We once talked about our executive positions, and his comment was... "man, I am just making it up everyday and hope that nobody finds out".

One profession in particular where that is not the case....brain surgery. :)
