Something Stephen King said in response to made up stories being nothing but lies ... yes, but good fiction hides truth inside the lies, etc. You're obviously familiar with King's statement. So anybody adapting a novel, I would think their job is to develop the emotional truths buried in those "lies", i.e., the story. What say ye?
