I agree with you 100%. Did they stop teaching lighting in film school? So many (especially streaming) projects I've seen lately have very bad, or lack thereof, lighting. The viewer misses "clues" and important information because it is presented in the dark. I mean, you can accomplish back lighting with a penlight and duct tape for heavens' sake. It's really aggravating and sooo fixable.
